Offline Gold in Small Local Businesses
Obviously if you are here reading this you are either already marketing your services to local businesses or have the desire to do so.
Don’t be fooled, local competition is tough to crack into, but not that tough that it can’t be done. Remember, there are already lots of generic sites out there scraping info and adding these biz’s into their nationwide directory. These sites have great rankings and can toss a monkey wrench into your plans.
However, with a carefully laid out plan you can still do very well! Take a look at these sites and you will see they are hard to navigate and offer little info except an address and a phone number. Find what you can do to stand out above these sites and add it to your offerings.
I will use restaraunts for example. Go to Google and type in~ YourCity “pizza” and take a look at what comes up. Here is what comes up for my city – RESULTS. You will see that Google itself gets the first spot with it’s map. Right there is what some people are looking for…phone numbers, and websites if available.
Now marketing to those businesses that have a site AND are listed right there is now worthwhile right away, but if you look down a bit on the map listing you will see “Family Pizza”. No site…just a phone number. NOW this is a biz to tackle. No site means no menu. An online menu takes no time at all, and what about coupons? Think they might be interested in offering some online coupons? I bet the answer is yes.
Below the map you see the superpages site, and the insiderpages, both of which suck. However they will be tough to beat. But look below that in spot number 3…A site about selling restaraunts…How relevant!?
This is where you could put a business! Now below that is some menu sites that are generic and hard to navigate. So if I hit any one of almost 50 Pizza places in town that ARE NOT major chains, I betcha I can sign them up for my service without much effort!!
Now this is just one example of what has been labeled as “offline gold” or as I call it “offline riches”. Pick any business in any niche and you will more than likely find the same thing. By targeting specific keywords you can propel any local business to page one and help to increase their sales or presence.
I am not the most eloquent writer, but I think you get my point. A little online research goes a long way when approaching a business or a business sector. Spend some time and see how you can benefit the company. It;s not all about you, but about them. Remember that one thing!
